ESI Alpe D’Huez: Your Trusted Ski School Partner in the Alps

When you think about ski lessons in Alpe D’Huez, you want a ski school that combines warmth, professionalism and real results. ESI Alpe D’Huez is exactly that team you can rely on to guide beginners, families and advanced skiers alike through an unforgettable Alpine experience.
History & Philosophy: More Than Just Skiing
ESI Alpe D’Huez has over 30 years of experience organizing skiing & snowboard lessons. Their philosophy is rooted in a family-like atmosphere, with patient, professional instructors and small groups to ensure each student gets personal attention. They believe in assessing each learner’s level carefully, matching groups for homogeneous ability, and making learning fun, safe, and confidence-building.
What Types of Lessons Are Offered
- Children’s Group Ski Lessons (8–12 years): With an average of 7 children per group (max 10), these courses run five mornings (10:10–12:40), with a special system of continuous assessment and awards (the Snow Star Awards) and a medal at week’s end.
- Snowboard Group Lessons (12+ years): For those aged 12 and over, group snowboard lessons also follow the small-group format. Start times are similar to ski group lessons, and progress is logged in a personal logbook.
- Private Lessons (Ski & Snowboard): Ideal for people who want one-on-one tuition, to work on specific techniques, improve fast, or share an instructor with friends or family of similar level.
- Freeride / Off-Piste: ESI Alpe D’Huez also introduces off-piste skiing and freeride options (with appropriate safety and environmental awareness).
Location & Why Alpe D’Huez is Special
Alpe D’Huez is perched on a south-facing plateau at around 1,860 m, in the Grandes Rousses massif. It boasts over 250 km of ski runs, modern lifts, excellent snow-making, and famously around 300 days of sunshine a year. Beginners can start safely on green and blue runs close to the resort, while more experienced skiers can push upwards to Pic Blanc (33 30 m) and enjoy technical runs and dramatic panoramas.
Also, meeting points for lessons are convenient: the main meeting point is at the Blue Flag at the arrival of the Alpe Express gondola at Les Bergers, which is at the base of the slopes. There’s also a meeting point at the top of the Tele-Center (Lift DMC 1 at about 1800m) for private lessons. Rental and storage of equipment is available at the foot of the slopes nearby.
